Ella Ember appeals to a segment of women who are exquisite and unique — and wish to show it
Launched in 2015, Ella Ember was born out of a decade of international fashion design. I left my job as a Financial Analyst in the Oil sector in 2003 and started a company to manufacture alpaca garments in a sustainable way in the high mountains of Bolivia. Throughout the years, I’ve opened several successful boutiques in South America serving international travelers, showcasing our own exclusive designs and our artisans exquisite craftmanship. Our products are also sold to the trade in South America, Europe, and Japan. Having moved to the US in 2014 with my husband to start a family, I have brought my love for alpaca to the U.S. market under the Ella Ember brand. Having lived in Indiana since then, I’ve been inspired by the American Midwestern fall & winter seasons, which remind me of the crisp air of the Andes Mountains of my hometown.
Ella Ember garment collections are intended for women who seek unique, high-quality apparel pieces that deeply speak to them and for them. So many mid-aged women find themselves limited to brands whose designs are too young or too elderly. Ella Ember provides colors, textures and shapes that are appropriately fitted for our ever-changing bodies, without sacrificing our need to make a statement. From the sentimental feel of flowing cardigans to modern-fit sweaters with European sensibilities.
Every Ella Ember piece is designed by me, and handmade by a circle of working women in Bolivia. My staff and I have trained every one of them to handcraft each piece with skill, care, and thoughtfulness. All of these women work from home, so that they may care for their children while generating an income. They are paid a fair wage, affording them an independent lifestyle. This is the part that I, personally, love the most!
